Text SLOs in Canvas
- Beginning in Fall 2024, we will be utilizing the Canvas Mastery Gradebook feature.
  
  We will begin by inputting data from the Summer 2024 term (for those who taught) and then work throughout the term to provide support and training and ensure everyone's needs are met with the new system.
  
  For the time being, I am adding a brief guide here as well as embedding some temporary support videos to support you.
  
  Guide to Entering SLOs in Canvas
  
  1. Creating an SLO Assignment in Canvas
  1. Log in to Canvas and select your course.
  2. Click the "Assignments" button and then "Add Assignment."
  3. Name the assignment (e.g., "SLO Assignment") and configure settings as needed.
  4. Click "Save," then select "+ Rubric" and "Find Outcome."
  5. Select the relevant SLO(s) from the list, click "Import," and then "Create Rubric."
  6. Publish the assignment and use "SpeedGrader" to assess students (see points below for the steps).
  7. SLO Data Input Steps - Using SpeedGrader
    Once in SpeedGrader, you will see the student's name and the option to "view rubric."
    
    Click the "view rubric" button.
    
    There is a mastery level scale that will open to the left of the screen; scroll to see the options.
    
    Click the level the student met (click the word, and it will highlight it).
    
    Click Save
    
    Click the arrow to go to the next student.
    
    Once you get to the end of your student list, you are done.
    
    Nothing further needs to be done
    
    Optional: You can view the results under the Grades tab by selecting: "grade book type" and Learning Mastery Gradebook.
  2. Attaching an SLO to an Existing Assignment in Canvas
  1. Click the "Assignments" button and select the assignment or quiz.
  2. Scroll to the "Rubric" section and click "Find Outcome."
  3. Select the relevant SLO(s) and click "Import."
  4. Click "Create Rubric" and use "SpeedGrader" to assess students.
    - Once in SpeedGrader, you will see the student's name and the option to "view rubric."
    - Click the "view rubric" button.
    - There is a mastery level scale that will open to the left of the screen; scroll to see the options.
    - Click the level the student met (click the word, and it will highlight it).
    - Click Save
    - Click the arrow to go to the next student.
    - Once you get to the end of your student list you are done.
    - Nothing further needs to be done
